Breakfast and brunch in Asunción: three places for a slow morning

Menus and sources checked 13 October 2026

A good breakfast outing in Asunción can be eggs and coffee, a generous brunch plate or something distinctly Paraguayan. Start with these three options: Bocatta for flexible timing, Typica for a breakfast combo and Café de Acá for local flavours. Pick one branch, check the menu and make a morning of it.

Prices below are listed menu prices in Paraguayan guaraníes, checked on 13 October 2026. Use the linked menus for updates.

1. Bocatta: the easiest choice for a late start

Bocatta makes the timing simple: its brunch page says it is available every day and at any hour. The Asunción branch on Alfredo Seiferheld at Buenaventura Suárez lists opening hours of 07:30–22:00 daily, including Sunday. This is the Asunción location, not its San Bernardino branch.

  • Eggs Benedict: Gs 55,000.
  • Mandi’o chyryry: Gs 40,000.
  • Veggie avocado toast: Gs 40,000.
  • Stuffed croissant: Gs 45,000.

Choose it when your group wants brunch dishes without organising the day around a narrow weekend service. The listed amounts are dish prices; add your drinks when comparing the bill with a breakfast combo elsewhere.

2. Typica: a breakfast combo and coffee

Typica’s Asunción café is on Agustín Pío Barrios. Its official branch page lists 07:30–21:00; the Paraguay profile specifies Tuesday to Sunday. Use the linked official map pin to find the entrance.

  • Desayuno americano: Gs 58,000, with toast, eggs, bacon, orange juice and a cappuccino or coffee of the day.
  • Desayuno waffle: Gs 61,000, with a waffle, two fried eggs, bacon and a cappuccino or coffee of the day.
  • No estás listo para esto: Gs 52,000, a poached-egg and yogurt dish with bacon, tomatoes and bread.

The American breakfast is a useful starting point if you want to know what the full order includes. The waffle combination suits a sweet-and-savoury breakfast. The opening hours cover the café; check how late the breakfast menu runs if you plan to arrive later in the day.

3. Café de Acá: make it a Paraguayan breakfast

For this outing, use El Café de Acá at Paseo La Galería, Av. Santa Teresa 1827. Paraguay’s tourism authority lists this branch for breakfast and brunch, including traditional cocido quemado and international dishes such as eggs Benedict and shakshuka.

The café’s shared dine-in QR menu lists:

  • Mbejú clásico: Gs 26,000.
  • Brunch paraguayan: Gs 60,000, with scrambled eggs, bacon, fried cassava and French toast.
  • Shakshuka: Gs 49,000.
  • Eggs Benedict: Gs 75,000.

Start with mbejú and a cocido if you want a smaller local order, or choose the Paraguayan brunch for a fuller plate. The shared menu is a planning reference: confirm availability and prices at Paseo. Check this branch’s Sunday opening and breakfast-service times directly; the tourism listing does not publish them.

A few names worth knowing before you order

Chipa is the small cheese bread you will see throughout Paraguay; mbejú is a crumbly cassava-starch and cheese preparation cooked in a pan. Cocido quemado is a hot yerba-mate drink made with caramelised sugar, often served with milk. It is a different order from a coffee.

For a simple first taste, choose one local savoury item and a drink rather than assuming you need a large brunch platter. If you prefer a substantial meal, compare the contents of the named brunch or breakfast combination: eggs, juice and coffee are not automatically included with every dish.

How to make the outing easy

  • Choose the branch before ordering a ride. Use the individual maps above. A familiar café name can appear in more than one part of the city.
  • Check opening hours and kitchen service separately. Bocatta explicitly advertises all-day brunch; the other opening schedules are not a guarantee that every breakfast dish is served until closing.
  • Compare the whole order. A dish plus two drinks can cost more than a breakfast combination that already includes them. Check whether juice, coffee and extras are part of the price.
  • For a group or a particular table, contact the café first. Ask about a reservation, indoor seating and the menu you want. These listings do not confirm live table availability.
  • Keep the route simple. Pick one café for the morning, then add a nearby plan. See getting around Asunción for transport options.
