Pull up a guampa.

Asunción's worst-kept secret for making friends.

A city gets smaller once you have people to text. Someone for dinner on Friday, a show on Saturday, a "you have to try this place" on Sunday. That's what the group is for.

Open Asu is a WhatsApp community with in-person plans every week, where Paraguayans and people from everywhere else make new friends. New here and don't know anyone yet? Come along. Know the city well and want new company? You're welcome too.

Start with a bowl of ramen, a round of tereré, or whatever gets you out the door.

01 - What we do

What are we doing?

Four ways in. All of them open.

01

Get something to eat

Try a lunch spot, organize a group dinner, or make a serious investigation of the dessert menu. Bring your recommendations.

02

Give something a go

Take a workshop, catch an exhibition, watch Cerro vs Olimpia, or teach the table a card game. Bring the plan you keep putting off.

03

Head out for the evening

Catch live music, meet for drinks, or go dancing. Pick a place and see who's up for it.

04

Keep it simple

Tereré, a few snacks, and an afternoon free. A plan doesn't need much production to be worth joining.

03 - The point

You've found a few places.
Now find your people.

Knowing where to get coffee is useful. Having someone to ask "Coffee later?" makes a bigger difference.

Join a plan, suggest something you'd enjoy, and give yourself a chance to become a familiar face.

You can turn up on your own. That's the whole idea.
