There's room in your week for some new friends

When you're new in town, even a simple Friday dinner can take a bit of figuring out. You might have somewhere in mind and nobody to invite yet.

And you can know a city for years and still want a few more people to do things with.

Open Asu is a place to get those plans started. We connect through WhatsApp and meet over food, music, games, tereré, and things we're curious enough to try.

Bring your favourite recommendations or your complete lack of dinner plans. Suggest something, join an outing, and see who you get to know.

Somos La Ronda

For us, la ronda means everyone gets to take part.

You can suggest the restaurant, teach the game, bring a friend, or turn up ready to try whatever's happening.

Nobody needs to have the whole city figured out. Bring an idea when you have one, and give someone else's a go.

What happens in WhatsApp?

We introduce ourselves, share things worth doing, ask practical questions, and organise plans.

An invitation works best when it gives people something concrete:

"Anyone up for this show on Saturday?"

"I'm trying this lunch spot on Friday. Who wants to come?"

"I can teach this game. We need four players."

You don't need to organise a major event. Start with something you'd enjoy.

A few useful answers

I've just arrived and don't know anyone. Can I come?

Yes. You don't need an invitation from another member or a friend to bring along. Check the meetup details, let the host know you're coming, and meet us there.

I already live here. Is this for me too?

Absolutely. Wanting to meet people and do things together is plenty of reason to join.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, subject to any space or booking limits in the meetup details. Let the host know so they have the right headcount.

What should I say when I join?

Your name and a couple of things you're into. Food, football, photography, live music, games, whatever you'd enjoy doing with other people.

Do I need to speak a particular language?

Use the language you're comfortable with. Help people follow along when you can, and give them time to find the words.

Can I join for a short visit?

Yes. Join a plan while you're here.

How often are the meetups?

There's no fixed schedule yet. Confirmed plans will appear on the Meetups page with the date, location, cost, and joining instructions.

What does a meetup cost?

It depends on the activity. Each listing will explain admission or booking costs and what you'll pay for yourself.

Can I organise something?

Absolutely. Share the activity, time, place, and cost. Say whether you're ready to host or checking for interest.

Can I ask practical questions?

Yes. Ask clearly, include the details that matter, and share the answer if you figure it out.
