Cafés in Asunción: locations, prices and seating

Checked 14 October 2026

A useful café is one you can reach, afford and sit in for the kind of break you need. These three Asunción options cover downtown, a café destination and Paseo La Galería, with published addresses, some price references and clear limits on what we have verified. Use them for an ordinary coffee near your errands or for catching up with someone.

Choose by location and the kind of stop

  • Already downtown: look at Bolsi, Estrella 399 at Alberdi, and confirm a table for coffee rather than assuming a restaurant reservation covers it.
  • Want a café-focused stop: Typica publishes an Asunción address on Agustín Pío Barrios #1333c and a patio; confirm the day and indoor seating.
  • Near Paseo La Galería: El Café de Acá at Av. Santa Teresa 1827; save the café entrance, not just the mall pin.
  • For a longer stay: ask about seating, any reservation charge and the branch’s policy.
  • A slow morning with breakfast: use our brunch guide for dishes and combinations, then arrange the catch-up around it.

Pick a table for conversation

For a short coffee, ask whether the available seating suits a drinks-only order. For a longer stay, check the branch’s policy and whether you can move indoors if the weather changes. A patio listing does not establish shade or cover.

We have not measured background sound, checked every entrance for step-free access or tested the chairs at these venues. If quiet conversation, air conditioning or accessible arrival determines the plan, ask the branch directly. A published Wi-Fi service is useful information, but it says nothing about sound levels or table availability.

Downtown: coffee at Bolsi

Save Estrella 399 at Alberdi. Bolsi's current official site lists Monday–Saturday 07:00–01:00 and Sunday 08:00–01:00. Its coffee menu includes a simple espresso at Gs. 12,000 and café con leche at Gs. 17,000, checked on 14 October 2026. Food and additional drinks change the total.

Bolsi is useful when you are already downtown. Its reservation section quotes a Gs. 10,000 per-person couvert; ask whether it applies to the seating and order you want. A menu coffee price and a reservation charge are separate parts of the bill. Confirm any reservation with staff.

Typica Paraguay: patio and café facilities

Typica's official Asunción page gives Agustín Pío Barrios #1333c, a 07:30–21:00 opening window and its own café map pin. It lists a patio, free Wi-Fi and no parking or dedicated meeting room. Confirm the opening day and any holiday changes locally; the opening window is not a promise that every menu item is available throughout it.

Check whether the patio or indoor area suits the weather and your length of stay. Typica’s page links the Paraguay menu, but some contact numbers displayed carry Bolivia’s country code. Confirm that you are contacting the Asunción branch; do not treat listed capacity as a promise of a free table.

El Café de Acá at Paseo La Galería

Use the Paseo La Galería branch, Av. Santa Teresa 1827. SENATUR's branch listing records reservations, air conditioning, a non-smoking area and card payment. It lists telephone contact as 021 623 583 / +595 973 153 040. Confirm current hours directly; the listing does not publish a branch schedule.

Use the specific café entrance at Paseo rather than the mall’s centre pin. Open its menu portal before deciding between coffee, a snack or a meal, and confirm branch availability. The tourism listing advertises reservations, but it does not confirm a table for your date.

What changes the cost of a coffee stop

Compare the drink, food, any applicable couvert and the journey from where you already are. A low menu price may not be the cheapest total if it requires an extra cross-city trip. Check the final bill rather than treating a coffee stop as a fixed package.

Ask which milk alternatives and snacks are actually available if ingredients matter to you. A non-dairy drink does not establish that the accompanying pastry is vegan, and dietary labels do not establish allergy precautions.

Choose a café you can use again

For residents, the useful test is whether this stop fits a normal day: the branch is near your route, the bill is comfortable and the seating suits what you need. Try one ordinary order before making it a regular habit. For visitors, the same details help avoid spending more time in traffic than in the café.

If conversation is the point, ask about music and the particular seating section. We have not tested sound levels. If you need a quiet table, step-free access or a toilet with specific facilities, confirm those details with the branch.

Leave the next step optional

For a fuller morning meal, compare the breakfast and brunch guide. For laptop work, check the separate coworking and café guide: advertised Wi-Fi alone does not establish permission for a long work session. The transport and rainy-day guides help with the rest of the journey.

Venue details and linked sources checked 14 October 2026. Hours, prices and seating can change. These are independent venues, not paid partnerships, verified quiet spaces or confirmed Open Asu gatherings.

Recovery follow-up, 27 October 2026: Bolsi’s menu still lists simple espresso at ₲12,000 and café con leche at ₲17,000. Typica publishes Agustín Pío Barrios #1333c, while SENATUR retains the Paseo La Galería café listing. Seating, applicable charges and the day’s branch arrangements require direct confirmation.
