Supermarkets in Asunción: late shopping, Sundays and holidays

For a late grocery run in Asunción, first decide whether you need a few essentials or a full supermarket shop. Biggie advertises a 24-hour convenience-store format. Larger supermarkets have branch-specific schedules, and a Sunday opening does not settle what happens on a public holiday. Here are useful starting points and the checks that save a wasted trip.

A full shop or a few things after hours?

Superseis, Stock and Casa Rica are starting points for a larger grocery shop. Their online catalogues cover fresh food, pantry goods and household products. Choose the branch and basket that work for you; this guide does not rank a cheapest or best chain.

Biggie is a convenience-store option. Its official description advertises 24-hour service throughout the year. That makes it a useful first place to check for late essentials. It is a chain-level description, so confirm the specific branch before travelling, especially on a holiday. Do not assume every branch carries the same range or has the departments of a larger supermarket.

Start with Biggie’s branch page. If its map does not load, use the contact or official app links on the site to locate a branch. A map result helps you find the address; it cannot guarantee the products you want are in stock.

Four Asunción branches with published late and Sunday hours

These examples come from the Supermercados section of Casa Rica’s dedicated hours page, checked on 12 October 2026. Addresses come from its branch directory. They are a small geographic shortlist, not all the city’s options.

Casa Rica España

Av. España near Dr. Bestard. The hours page lists Monday–Wednesday 07:00–22:00, Thursday 07:00–23:00, Friday–Saturday 07:00–00:00 and Sunday 07:00–22:00.

Casa Rica Los Laureles

Facundo Machain at RI6. Listed hours are Monday–Wednesday 07:00–22:00, Thursday 07:00–23:00, Friday 07:00–00:00, Saturday 08:00–00:00 and Sunday 08:00–22:00.

Casa Rica Molas López

Av. Dr. Felipe Molas López at Jasy. The published schedule matches Los Laureles: Monday–Wednesday 07:00–22:00, Thursday 07:00–23:00, Friday 07:00–00:00, Saturday 08:00–00:00 and Sunday 08:00–22:00.

Casa Rica Distrito Perseverancia

Av. Brasilia near Av. Artigas. Listed hours are Monday–Wednesday 07:00–23:00, Thursday–Saturday 07:00–00:00 and Sunday 07:00–23:00.

Here, 00:00 means midnight at the end of that shopping day. The source labels these as supermarket hours; the same page has a separate El Molinillo section. None of the times above is a confirmed holiday schedule.

How to check the branch you will actually use

  1. Match the name and street. Open the chain’s own branch page, then its map link. Similar names and locations in Greater Asunción can lead to the wrong trip.
  2. Check what the hours describe. In-person shopping, order collection, delivery and online customer support can have different schedules.
  3. Check the date. Look for a notice for that exact Sunday or holiday. A previous Easter or Christmas post does not confirm this year’s opening.
  4. Resolve a conflict before travelling. Use the contact route linked from the official site and ask: “¿La sucursal de [calle] abre hoy para compras presenciales? ¿Hasta qué hora?” If you need a particular item, ask about it too.

Superseis: use the directory for the right location

The official Superseis directory lists branches including Denis Roa, at Av. Denis Roa and Lillo; Los Laureles, on Av. República Argentina by Facundo Machain; and Mburucuyá, at Av. Santísima Trinidad and Julio Correa. Open the map on the specific card.

The cards also contain pickup/delivery indicators and schedules. The reviewed page does not make sufficiently clear whether every listed schedule covers in-person shopping or an online-order service. We therefore do not turn those times, or an online support schedule, into a promise that the supermarket doors are open or closed. Confirm in-person hours through Superseis’ own contact options.

Sunday and public-holiday shopping

Some supermarkets publish Sunday hours, including the Casa Rica examples above. Check your branch rather than applying one chain’s schedule to the whole city. A normal Sunday, a public holiday and the evening before a holiday can each have different arrangements.

For a holiday, start with the chain’s current notice and check its date, branch exceptions and whether it concerns stores or deliveries. If there is no clear notice, confirm directly. Biggie’s year-round 24-hour description is a useful lead, but it is not a live check of an individual shop. If you need several specific ingredients for a meal, shopping earlier gives you time to find alternatives.

Delivery and pickup: use the official ordering paths

  • Superseis Online: the site advertises delivery and pickup, with branch-specific service indicators. Check the selected branch, delivery coverage and actual collection or delivery slot.
  • Stock Online: its FAQ describes orders routed by delivery area and selection of a date and time window. Check the current fee, minimum spend and address coverage before paying.
  • Casa Rica Online: the site displays separate delivery and branch-collection slots. Choose the service first and verify the final slot for your order.
  • Biggie: use the official website or its linked app for your chosen branch. Check the available service and final delivery estimate there.

Do not assume a Sunday order arrives on Sunday. On our check date, the Superseis and Stock websites said orders placed from 16:00 on Saturday and on Sunday would be delivered on Monday. Check the current checkout and any holiday notice before relying on a delivery day. Store opening, online support and available delivery slots are separate facts.

A few checks before buying

  • Compare the same unit: per kilo, per unit and per pack are different prices. Check pack weight and the final amount for weighed produce or meat.
  • Read the offer conditions: an online price or bank-card promotion may not be the price for your in-store purchase.
  • Check the whole order: products, substitutions, delivery charge, minimum spend, payment method and time slot. Decide what substitutions you are happy with.
  • Plan the way home: keep the trip manageable if you are carrying a large shop. The first-month guide puts other everyday errands in order.

Frequently asked questions

Are there 24-hour supermarkets in Asunción?

Biggie advertises a 24-hour convenience-store format. Treat that as a starting point for late essentials and confirm your branch. This guide has not verified a full-size supermarket that is open 24 hours.

Can I buy groceries on Sunday?

Yes, some chains publish Sunday supermarket hours. Casa Rica’s dedicated hours page lists them for the four branches above, but its branch directory has conflicting times. Confirm your exact branch before making the trip.

Are supermarkets open on public holidays?

There is no single citywide schedule verified here. Look for the chain’s notice for the exact holiday and branch, then confirm in-person opening if the notice is missing or unclear.

Does an open supermarket guarantee delivery today?

No. Delivery depends on the service area, order cutoff and available slot. Pickup also has its own schedule. Check the date and time confirmed for your order.
