MuCi and San Cosmos: plan a visit in Asunción

For a MuCi visit in Asunción, start with San Cosmos, the digital planetarium at Complejo Textilia. Choose the show and session before heading out. MuCi also lists Ciencia a Cielo Abierto at Textilia; TatakuaLab is closed, and the larger museum on the Costanera is still a future project.

What can you visit at MuCi now?

San Cosmos is MuCi’s digital planetarium, with audiovisual shows in a dome. Ciencia a Cielo Abierto is its outdoor science activity space. MuCi’s current FAQ places both at Complejo Textilia. Confirm outdoor activities and any guided sessions for your date; do not assume that a planetarium ticket includes every activity.

TatakuaLab closed in March 2026. MuCi says this prototyping space operated from November 2022 to March 2026. Older posts about its exhibitions, including Astra, can still appear online, so check dates before planning around them.

The permanent MuCi museum and its larger planetarium are being developed on the Costanera. MuCi estimates an opening around 2028, which remains a projection. For the experiences currently advertised to visitors, use Textilia as your destination.

How to choose a show and book tickets

Three examples from the current programme help show the range. Titles are kept in Spanish so you can match them on the booking site:

MuCi says each show includes a 10-minute preshow before entering the dome, so allow more than the listed show duration for the full visit.

  1. Open the official planetarium programme. Read the description for the show you want. Check its recommended age and duration rather than treating every title as the same experience.
  2. Choose the actual date and session. Follow the show’s ticket link and check the options offered. An opening window does not guarantee a seat or a performance at every hour.
  3. Check the practical details. Confirm the show language, group needs and entry policy before buying. The general San Cosmos ticket page lists Gs. 40,000 at this guide’s last check; use the selected booking’s current price and conditions.
  4. Save the confirmation. Keep the date, show name and start time together on your phone. For a group, agree on the same session before each person buys.

If the date you want is not offered or the booking page is unclear, use the contact channel linked on MuCi’s official site. Do not interpret a missing option as either a confirmed closure or guaranteed walk-in availability.

Published opening hours versus showtimes

The San Cosmos ticket page lists these opening windows, checked on 12 October 2026. Times are local to Paraguay:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 08:30–12:30.
  • Thursday and Friday: 08:30–12:30 and 16:00–20:00.
  • Saturday: 14:00–21:00.
  • Sunday: 14:00–20:00.

That published list gives no Monday window. For holidays, special events, changes and the actual start time of your show, check the current programme and your booking confirmation. Avoid using an old exhibition poster as a current timetable.

Getting to Textilia and arriving on time

MuCi publishes the address as General Santos 1030, at Concordia, Complejo Textilia, Asunción. Use the location link on its official homepage and check that your route ends at Textilia. The future Costanera museum is a different destination.

As a practical plan, aim to reach Textilia 15–20 minutes before your show, allowing extra travel time if needed. This is a planning suggestion, not an operator requirement. The ticket page says shows start punctually and lists a 10-minute late-entry tolerance; do not rely on that as your arrival target.

The same page recommends a light jacket because the dome is kept at 22°C. For buses, taxis and ride-hailing basics, use our getting-around guide. Check the entrance, parking arrangements and drop-off point directly with MuCi if they matter to your visit.

Going with children or specific access needs

The general ticket page says children up to age two enter free and links to MuCi’s age policy. A free ticket rule does not tell you whether a particular show suits your child. Check the show recommendation and ask about seating, accompanying adults and booking requirements before paying.

The current programme lists La Hora Tranqui on Saturdays and Sundays at 14:00. Its dedicated show page describes a 25-minute experience for all audiences with gentler sensory stimuli, designed for neurodivergent visitors. Check the selected session and ask about the adaptations you need before booking.

We have not verified step-free access, wheelchair seating, accessible toilets, captions or hearing support for the current San Cosmos experience. If any of these affect your visit, ask MuCi before booking. It is also worth asking about darkness, sound levels and whether someone can leave and re-enter during a show.

Make it an easy outing with company

A planetarium visit gives a small group a concrete plan: one show, one start time and something to talk about afterward. The Open Asu community is open to people who have lived here for years and people who have just arrived.

A simple invitation to adapt

“Anyone want to see a show at San Cosmos? Let’s choose the same session and meet at the Textilia entrance we confirm with MuCi, 20 minutes beforehand. Please check the ticket and show details before booking. Happy to meet people coming on their own.”

Confirm the precise entrance with the venue, share a visible meeting point and decide how late arrivals will find the group. This is an idea for arranging your own outing. For more ways to explore together, open AsuBingo and see which everyday city experiences are on your card.
