Museo CONMEBOL in Luque: a football afternoon without a match ticket

Sources checked 3 November 2026

The Museo CONMEBOL is a useful outing for Asunción residents who want to explore South American football without building the day around a fixture. On Avenida Sudamericana in Luque, it combines sporting history with a museum visit. Make the museum your main destination, check its official booking route and plan the return journey before adding another stop. The standing website provides hours and free admission, but we could not verify individual reservation slots.

The current published visiting plan

The official museum page, read on 3 November 2026, publishes:

  • Tuesday–Friday: 08:00–12:00 and 13:30–18:00.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 09:00–17:00.
  • Admission: free for the general public.
  • Location: Avenida Sudamericana, Luque, Paraguay.

The page does not list Monday opening. For a weekday visit, respect the midday break rather than arriving just before noon expecting a continuous afternoon session. These are published ordinary hours, not confirmation of access on a particular holiday or event day.

Older notices use other schedules. CONMEBOL's 6 October 2025 announcement lists Monday–Friday and a shorter Saturday, while the current museum landing page lists the schedule above. Start with that dedicated page and check recent notices before travelling. Do not combine the longest opening periods from different publications into an invented timetable.

Agendarte’s listing carries a paid-entry label, which conflicts with the operator’s explicit free-entry statement. We use the museum’s own page for admission and the cultural directory only for collection context.

Booking: what is confirmed and what still needs checking

The official page links to Agendar visita. The October 2025 announcement specifically directs people seeking guided visits to that route. Our check could read the booking page's surrounding text but could not establish available dates, time slots or a completed reservation process.

Use the link yourself for your intended day and keep any confirmation it produces. If no usable calendar appears, consult the museum's official Instagram account, identified by CONMEBOL in that announcement, for current information and contact options. We have not established that every independent visitor must reserve, nor that walk-in admission is guaranteed. For a school, larger group or language-specific tour, arrange ahead rather than treating free admission as an open-ended booking.

Ask about guide language, expected visit length and arrival instructions. If someone needs step-free access, seating or a quieter visit, ask about the actual route and facilities. A modernized exhibition does not by itself confirm every accessibility provision.

Planning steps in text

  1. Confirm the visit: Ask about current hours and booking.
  2. Check access arrangements: Confirm entry and accessibility details.
  3. Plan the journey: Check the destination before setting off.

What to look for in the collection

CONMEBOL's history page dates the museum's inauguration to 2009 and frames it around the continent's tournaments and players. Its renovation page describes a renewal in 2024. The Secretaría Nacional de Cultura's Agendarte entry describes trophies, historic shirts, audiovisual archives, photographs, documents and interactive elements. That is a description of the collection, not a guarantee that every feature works or every object is displayed on your date.

Choose a thread before entering: a club you follow, a national team, a tournament or the changing design of shirts. Then compare how labels identify the competition and year. Ask which objects are originals, replicas or loans where the distinction is not clear. A familiar trophy shape alone does not tell you its provenance.

For a mixed-interest group, agree on two or three questions rather than turning the visit into a football quiz. What makes a continental competition different from a domestic league? How does one team's history connect to another country's? Someone who does not follow scores can still enjoy the photographs, clothing and stories.

A manageable outing from Asunción

Allow 90 minutes to two hours inside as an editorial planning estimate, adjusted to any confirmed guided-visit duration. Add your own transport time; we are not quoting a fixed journey from the center, because traffic and departure neighborhood change it substantially.

Enter Museo CONMEBOL, Avenida Sudamericana, Luque as the destination, then confirm the visitor entrance with staff or your reservation instructions. Do not assume a pin for the wider CONMEBOL complex identifies the museum door. Agree where to meet your driver afterwards, and check the return service if travelling by bus.

A simple weekend plan is the museum followed by a meal. If you want to continue into central Luque for crafts, use our Luque filigree guide and plan that transfer separately. A shared city name does not make every stop part of one short walk. Keep water for the journey and check rules before taking food, bags or cameras into the exhibition.

Museum visit or matchday?

This visit does not include stadium access, a live match or entry to other CONMEBOL facilities. For the crowd, chants and ticket arrangements of a game, use our first football match guide. For the museum, the essential sequence is simpler: check current notices, settle the visit arrangements, choose a theme and leave enough time to enjoy it.
