CCPA in Asunción: Teatro de las Américas and Galería Agustín Barrios
The Centro Cultural Paraguayo Americano is useful to know beyond its language classes. Its central cultural spaces give you another place to look for Paraguayan cinema, chamber music, jazz and visual art during an ordinary week in Asunción. Choose a specific program before going: the institution’s general opening hours are not a performance schedule.
The central address and the right contact
CCPA’s official branch directory lists the central location at Avenida España 352, between Brasil and Estados Unidos (map). Its published central-branch service hours are Monday–Friday 09:00–19:00 and Saturday 09:00–15:00. Those are branch hours, not verified walk-in gallery hours.
The Cultural Department separately publishes Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00 for contact, phone/WhatsApp +595 981 546082 and dcultural@ccpa.edu.py. Use that contact for a performance, exhibition or visit question, rather than assuming a language-course desk can confirm every cultural detail.
What the program actually offers
The Teatro de las Américas is the performance and screening venue; the institution describes an air-conditioned room with 293 seats. The Galería Agustín Barrios is its visual-art space. The departmental page lists a Paraguayan cinema cycle, a youth chamber orchestra, CCPA Jazz Quintet, exhibitions, talks and workshops.
This is evidence of the kinds of activity the institution runs, not a verified list of events for this week. The same page contains posters dated 2023, 2024 and 2025. Check the date on the actual announcement before traveling, and do not assume a recurring program name guarantees a screening or concert today.
Tickets, access and making the trip useful
No single current admission price or universal free-entry policy was established. Ask whether the particular event needs a ticket or reservation, which entrance is used, when doors open and whether late arrival is allowed. For a gallery visit, ask what exhibition is currently installed and whether you can enter during the hours you have available.
If you need step-free access or a particular seat position, ask about the route from the street to the room before buying. The description “air-conditioned” does not establish accessibility. For cinema, check the spoken language and subtitles; for a workshop, confirm whether registration and materials cost extra.
Save the event announcement and address for your return journey. A resident can follow the program and come back for a different film or exhibition; there is no need to fit every CCPA service into one visit.
