Post and parcels in Asunción: address, counter and tracking

Before mailing a document or going to collect a parcel, settle three things: the exact address, the service handling it and the counter you need. A courier’s warehouse, the postal operator and a bank-card collection desk are different destinations, even when a search result calls them all “the post office”.

Start with a complete address

DINACOPA explains that Paraguay’s postcode has six digits, identifying department, district and neighbourhood. Asunción codes begin with 00; those two digits alone are not a complete code. Use the official postcode finder for the actual home or office.

Give the recipient’s name, street and number, apartment or building details, neighbourhood, city, postcode and country. Add the contact information requested by the carrier. A map pin is useful for coordination but does not replace the written delivery address. Ask building staff how deliveries are received before naming reception as the collection point.

Choose the counter for the job

A published DINACOPA relocation notice makes the distinction explicit: it names Presidente Franco 982, near Colón for BNF card collection, and Edificio Patri, Alberdi 130, between Benjamín Constant and El Paraguayo Independiente for reception of correspondence and parcels. That notice gives Monday–Friday, 07:00–13:00. Confirm the current counter and hours for your item before setting off; the notice is not a guarantee that every postal service happens at either address.

Prepare the quote before sealing the box

The official services page asks for the product type, weight and destination group. It says to include packaging and cushioning in the weight and to check prohibited goods and the destination’s restrictions. Get the total for your actual shipment, including any extra service, rather than estimating from an old price screenshot.

For EMS international items, the published checklist includes identification, a completed and signed CN23 declaration, postcodes and full sender and recipient details. It specifically lists a copy of a cédula; if you only have a foreign passport, ask what is accepted before going. Requirements differ by product and destination, so do not copy another person’s parcel declaration.

When something is on its way

Keep the dispatch receipt and tracking number, and use the operator’s official national or international tracking link. “Arrived in Paraguay” does not by itself tell you that an item is ready at your nearest counter. Ask where collection will happen, what document is needed and how any applicable charges will be communicated.

If a message asks you to pay or change an address, open the carrier’s known website yourself and verify the request there. Do not publish a label, tracking number or someone’s delivery address in the WhatsApp group. You can still ask a useful public question: “Has anyone recently used the Alberdi counter for this service?”

Frequently asked questions

Can I use “0000” as an Asunción postcode?

Use the official six-digit code for the actual address. DINACOPA’s current explanation describes department, district and neighbourhood; a generic short code is not equivalent.

Is the post office on Presidente Franco the parcel counter?

The relocation notice distinguishes BNF card collection there from correspondence and parcel reception at Edificio Patri. Confirm which location currently handles your item.

How much will my parcel cost?

No universal price applies. Request a current quote for the product, destination and fully packed weight, with any extra services or charges identified.
