Asunción time zone: UTC−3, clocks and calls

Asunción’s time zone affects work calls, appointments, flights and recurring commitments. Start with Paraguay’s official time, keep your devices updated and compare international appointments on the actual date: another country’s clock changes can shift your working day even when the local clock stays the same.

UTC 22:00 is 19:00 in Asunción on the same day; UTC 01:00 is 22:00 on the previous day.

What the official source says

The INTN’s ARAVÓ official-time page cites Law 7.354/2024 and identifies Paraguay’s official zone as UTC−3. That means an example time of 19:00 in Asunción corresponds to 22:00 UTC on the same date.

Use current official guidance rather than copying a seasonal clock-change reminder from an older article. This is a dated check, not a promise that time-zone rules can never change. For a future trip or an important appointment, check the current rule again.

These examples avoid assumptions about another country’s current offset. For a call with someone abroad, put both cities into the same calendar event and inspect the time on the actual date.

Fix the setting rather than the appointment

  1. Choose the supported Asunción city/time-zone option on your device. Do not choose another city merely because its clock matches today.
  2. Check the displayed date and UTC offset. If it disagrees with current official guidance, update the device’s time-zone information or check its support instructions.
  3. Make a test calendar event and inspect how it appears on your phone and computer.
  4. When sharing a call, include the date and the intended city zone. Ask the other participant to check their local display.

A manually typed numeric offset can be useful for a specific timestamp, but it is not a substitute for checking a recurring event. The other person’s country may change its clocks even while your Asunción setting stays the same.

Appointments, travel and recurring work

For a medical or government appointment, keep the exact date and local time from the confirmation. For a flight, use the airline’s local departure and arrival dates; an overnight trip can cross into another calendar day. If the time zone is unclear, ask the issuer before changing your calendar.

For a weekly international work call, use the named city zones in the calendar rather than a permanent handwritten offset. Review the next occurrence when the other country changes its clocks. When booking an online appointment, inspect the final displayed zone before paying or confirming.

Frequently asked questions

Does Paraguay still use the old seasonal clock-change routine?

The official INTN guidance checked for this article specifies UTC−3 under Law 7.354/2024. Check that current source instead of relying on an old seasonal reminder.

Why does my calendar show a different hour?

Possible causes include an outdated time-zone setting, a different city selected, or an event created in another zone. Verify the event’s date, intended zone and device information before changing the appointment.

Is 01:00 UTC the same local date?

At UTC−3, 01:00 UTC is 22:00 on the previous local day. Always carry the date through the conversion.

Recovery follow-up, 26 October 2026: INTN’s ARAVÓ official-time page still cites Law 7.354/2024 and UTC−3. The original dated conversion examples above remain examples, not a live clock. Check future appointments in their named zones.
